Under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth):

## (a) Minimum Period of Notice of Termination

**Section 117** sets out the notice scale. For an employee with 6 years of continuous service:

- 1 year or more but less than 3 years: 2 weeks
- 3 years or more but less than 5 years: 3 weeks
- 5 years or more: 4 weeks

**Answer: 4 weeks**

## (b) Redundancy Pay Owed

**Section 119** sets out the redundancy pay scale. For an employee under 45 years of age with 6 years of continuous service:

- Less than 2 years: not entitled
- 2 years or more but less than 5 years: 4 weeks
- 5 years or more but less than 10 years: 6 weeks
- 10 years or more: 12 weeks

**Answer: 6 weeks of base pay**
