Anzac Day is Saturday, 25 April 2026. There is no single Australia-wide substitute public holiday on Monday, 27 April.

Under the relevant state and territory public-holiday laws, Monday, 27 April 2026 is an additional Anzac Day public holiday in:

- the Australian Capital Territory; and
- Queensland.

It is not an automatic additional public holiday in New South Wales, the Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria or Western Australia.

An employee’s position therefore turns primarily on the state or territory in which the employee is based for employment purposes, together with any applicable award, enterprise agreement or employment contract. Those instruments may permit or provide for an agreed substitute day, but they do not create a uniform national entitlement to Monday, 27 April. Even where Monday is a public holiday, the employee’s entitlement to be absent or to receive public-holiday pay also depends on the applicable workplace rules and whether the employee would ordinarily have worked that day.
